It sometimes seems that if you want a designer light you have to spend hundreds or even thousands, but thanks to Tord Boontje you can own this ultra-luxe pendant Icarus Light for less then one-hundred dollars. The light is made from multi-layered extruded mylar, and is as durable as it is beautiful.

Born in the Netherlands designer Tord Boontje, studied industrial design in Eindhoven, and later in London, and more recently moved to France and opened his own studio. His philosophy of melding design and emotion, and his belief that modernism does not mean minimalism - is captured flawlessly in this laser-cut brass garland light. ($80 USD)
